Yes, it was a fact. But no, it wasn't fun. Not for E! and especially not for Michael J. Fox. The entertainment network laid an egg on the red carpet Sunday in its lead up to the Golden Globe Awards when it listed Fox's 1991 diagnosis with Parkinson's disease as a "Fun Fact." "We regret the insensitive classification of Michael J. Fox's Parkinson's diagnosis during our E online live stream," the network said. "We understand the serious nature of the disease and sincerely apologize." Fox appeared on the red carpet with his wife Tracy Pollen. He was nominated for best actor in a comedy for his new NBC show, "The Michael J. Fox Show."
On Monday, director and screenwriter Joss Whedon deleted his Twitter account because he was being harassed by trolls on the internet who were enraged with aspects of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Today, Guardians of the Galaxy director and co-screenwriter James Gunn has weighed in on the matter via Twitter and Facebook. In Gunn's lengthy and eloquent post on Facebook he defends Whedon, pleads to fandom to be kinder and shares his own personal experience with trollish behavior.
Singer/songwriter Noel Gallagher believes his second solo album, "Chasing Yesterday," includes some of his best ever work with a range of instrumental melodies and an eclectic feel to it. The former lead guitarist and songwriter with the British rock group Oasis wrote and produced the album that features 10 tracks and rose to the top of album charts in England when it was released in March. Gallagher said, "As a body of work, it's way up there with the best things I've ever done.
Anna Kendrick knows a thing or two about success by now. But the Oscar-nominated actress isn't taking anything for granted—especially because she went out and worked her butt off for that success. The Pitch Perfect 2 star and Glamour 's June Success Issue cover girl tells the magazine, "As an actress you're perpetually about to be unemployed. That fear—when you have two parents who worked 9-to-5 jobs and went through periods of being unemployed—is real. Those were not welcome times in my childhood. Working 14 hours a day isn't sustainable, but I prefer it to doing fewer films. I might as well be doing the thing that I wanted to do my whole life."
A senior U.S. official said on Tuesday Washington wants to be certain that any nuclear deal between Iran and major powers includes the possibility of restoring U.N. sanctions if Tehran breaks the agreement without risking Russian and Chinese vetoes.
From water to your dating life, most droughts are tough. But in the case of major hurricanes, a dry spell can be a good thing. And the U.S. has been in one for nine years. Every day that passes without a major hurricane hitting the U.S. stretches the current record-setting hurricane drought just a bit further. The last major hurricane — defined as a Category 3 or greater — to strike the U.S. was Hurricane Wilma, which made landfall in Florida in October 2005.
