Under fire for his alleged role in the Kishtwar communal flare-up, Minister of State for Home Sajad Kitchloo resigned on Monday (August 12) even as fresh clashes erupted in the curfew-bound district leaving four persons including two policemen injured. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah ordered a judicial inquiry headed by a retired High Court judge to estblish the truth behind Friday's violence in the district that left three persons dead and 20 others injured. "I have received Sajad Kitchloo's resignation asking to be relieved of his responsibilities pending the outcome of the judicial inquiry. The resignation has been forwarded to Governor N N Vohra for acceptance," Omar wrote on micro-blogging site twitter. The Governor has accepted the resignation, an official statement later said. Kitchloo, representative of National Conference from Kishtwar Assembly constituency, was inducted in the cabinet early this year.BJP and some Congress leaders had demanded that Kitchloo be removed pending an impartial inquiry on his alleged role in the riots in Kishtwar. "My conscience does not allow me to continue as a minister till the probe ends," Kitchloo said, adding he was resigning so that this presence does not cast a shadow on an independent probe. Fresh clashes broke out today in Hidyal area of Kishtwar as locals defied curfew to protest against the arrest of a youth for his alleged involvement in the communal violence in the area. Trouble started when police tried to stop protesters including women from marching for violating curfew which has been in operation for four days.In a debate moderated by TIMES NOW's Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami, panelists -- Dr Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Spokesperson and MP, Rajya Sabha, Congress; Nirmala Seetharaman, National Spokesperson, BJP; G N Ratanpuri, MP, Rajya Sabha, NC; Abdul Rashid Shaheen, Leader, NC; Dr Sameer Kaul, Spokesperson, PDP and Kamal Faruqui, Natl Secy, SP -- discuss whether, Omar quotes Gujarat to defend Kishtwar. Can the inaction of one state government be used to justify the incompetence of another?
