Authorities believe they've recovered video that will help the investigation into who killed a police officer in northern Illinois. Lake County Major Crime Task Force Cmdr. George Filenko told reporters Thursday that a private resident came forward with the video from a home security system. Investigators have not yet viewed it because it's on a hard drive that requires specialized technology to process. So, it's been turned over to the Department of Homeland Security. Filenko says the resident told investigators it shows three people near the scene of Tuesday's killing in the village of Fox Lake and he is hopeful it will provide "significant" evidence. Authorities are searching for three men in the killing of Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz.
Tom Brady has been cleared to open the upcoming NFL season for the New England Patriots. The veteran quarterback and Super Bowl MVP faced a four-game suspension in connection to the 2015 AFC Championship. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell suspended Brady following an independent report into allegations that Brady and the Patriots staff violated league rules. Brady was believed to have known that locker room staff had removed air from game balls below a league standard pressure. The practice was thought to have given the Patriots an unfair advantage in the second half of the championship game against the Indianapolis Colts. After a close first half, the Patriots held the Colts scoreless throughout the remainder of the game. Brady's performance in the second half also led to a four-touchdown rally, resulting in an embarrassing 38 point margin of victory. U.S. District Court Judge Richard Berman, who has been overseeing Brady's appeal, overturned the suspension on Thursday. The NFL has already issued an appeal. The New England Patriots open the season on Sept. 10.

According to the Las Vegas Sun, former Miss Nevada USA Katie Rees was busted for drugs for the second time in just two months. The arrest report says Rees was riding in a car with her boyfriend of 10 months Kevin "DJ Kulprit" Sims in Las Vegas on Tuesday when police pulled him over for speeding and failing to signal. Officials say Sims hesitated at which point they placed both Sims and Rees in handcuffs. Police found a jar of GHB (a type of "date-rape" drug) on Sims and a bag full of marijuana, Xanax, Oxycontin and meth, which Rees claimed was hers. Police say Rees also admitted to smoking meth earlier that day.
