Phil Hartman SNL
President-Elect Bill Clinton stops by a McDonald's on his jog.
During his eight years on "Saturday Night Live" (1986-1994), Phil Hartman was known as "The Glue." He "never gave up on a sketch" and was unfailingly supportive of cast members, said Mike Myers, who added: "I just worshiped Phil." When he was shot and killed at the age of 49 by wife Brynn, the news sent faraway fans and close friends reeling. For frequent collaborator Jon Lovitz, it was a life-altering loss. "I loved him. I idolized him… He could do anything. He would just get into something and learn everything about it and go on to the next. In my life there is just a huge gap that will never be filled and part of me just feels lost." Here the friends appear in an "SNL" classic from season 12: "One More Mission." It was a favorite sketch for them both.
Phil is President Reagan, in a sketch that explores the possibility that Reagan just plays dumb, but in reality is the brilliant mastermind that runs everything. Dana plays visiting pal, Jimmy Stewart.
