Biologists Attempt to Disentangle Whale From Fishing Rope

by Storyful 2:40 mins

Biologists from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission came to the aid of a right whale that became entangled in over 100 yards of heavy fishing line near Wolf Island, GA. After several attempts, the team managed to cut the line using a grapple. However, part of it remained entangled, possibly in the whale’s baleen. Biologists now hope the whale will shed the remaining rope by itself. Credit: Georgia Wildlife
