When you want the best smile in Hollywood, you head to Dr. William Dorfman, DDS. Dr. Bill is the man behind some of Hollywood's most famous smiles - his clients include everyone from Usher to Katy Perry and Britney Spears to Jessica Simpson. Dr. Bill founded Discus Dental, the company that launched Zoom Whitening before being sold to Philips. So when I wanted to see what the professional teeth-whitening hype was about, I knew he was the go-to authority. I went in for my consult, and Dr. Dorfman not only said I was a great candidate for Zoom (although my teeth were fairly white from white strips), but that I would also benefit from another cosmetic adjustment. "Your front two teeth are uneven - one is longer than the other, and one is chipped and jagged. Let me fix that." It was something I've always noticed but never worried about, but I decided to let him work his magic. Before I hopped into the chair (well, I was already sitting there, just not getting the service yet), I had to know why this was so much better than my at-home white strips, and I had a myriad of other questions, too. First things first: does it hurt? No, it doesn't hurt. Not while you're getting it done, at least. There was a slight sensation during the third 15-minute session that dissipated, but nothing hurts while the light is on your teeth. However, the pain I experienced that night was excruciating. I would randomly feel deep aches and sensations throughout my teeth and gums. I ended up popping two Ibuprofen and going to bed earlier than normal. By the next morning, the pain had completely subsided. How long does it take? Each appointment is around 45 minutes to an hour. I had my mouth fitted for personalized take-home whitening trays, then they applied protective gel on my teeth and lips, and then put the light on my teeth for 15 minutes at a time. In between each session, they wiped the gel off and reapplied. You'll go through this process for three 15-minute sessions, then rinse, and you're out the door! How long does it last? Depending on your eating and drinking habits, it can last anywhere between six months and a year. How do I maintain it? Because I got fitted for the accompanying take-home trays (an optional service), I'll use those to help eliminate any stains from my new pearly whites. There are a few options depending on your needs, but I chose NiteWhite. I'll wear the formula in the trays overnight, two to three days a month, whenever I need a little sprucing up. (I haven't needed it yet; it's been about three weeks.) Of course, drinking coffee, red wine (God forbid!), or certain juices and consuming balsamic vinegar can stain your teeth over time, and you're advised against consuming any of these items for 48 hours after your appointment. I was so nervous about staining my teeth that I joked about the teeth whitening diet: Zoom Whitening Diet: don't eat/drink anything (besides water) because you're scared everything will stain your teeth — Kirbie Johnson (@kirbiejohnson) July 1, 2014 Don't worry, I ate. And Dr. Dorfman shaved down my two front teeth so they were even. He got rid of the jagged edges and chips that I've incurred over time from grinding my teeth at night. After sending her a photo of the results, my mom told me she might cry. That's powerful stuff, y'all. OK, but seriously: Is it worth it? As a woman who wants her teeth to look white at all times, I definitely think it's worth it. Pricing varies around the country, but for a couple hundred dollars, your teeth can get up to eight shades brighter than they were originally, and it really does make a huge difference. I've gotten so many compliments on my teeth the past few weeks, and I've even gotten asked if I have veneers. (I love it!) I don't know that I would do it every six months, but once a year is worth it for me. The white strips I use at home work, just not as powerfully as this service. Further, the cosmetic shaving made an even bigger difference, and getting both services at the same time was the one-two punch I needed to take my smile to the next level. Now if I can just get rid of my affinity for red sangria . . . You can see the whole transformation in the video, and watch what happens during the process. Based on my reaction, you can tell I'm very pleased with the results!

If you have a tattoo, chances are, you're not worried about hiding it. But if one day you need to make it disappear on the fly, we've got you covered. (Literally.) There are two techniques to consider: first, the cream-based option, which utilizes concealer or a lip liner. The second, powder, isn't difficult to master, but requires the perfect orange shade of shadow or blush. Regardless of the technique you use, start by shaving the area to get rid of any hair (which can make the cover-up look suspicious) and apply an eyeshadow primer to ensure long-lasting coverage. Also, powder will be your best friend, so keep it on deck to set your camouflage masterpiece. And if you plan on sweating or getting in the water, these tricks probably won't do you any good. Instead, opt for professional grade products that are alcohol-activated. (Yeah, we tried the hair spray trick - no dice.)
We know the Kardashian Pretty Committee is essentially a traveling squad of makeup artists and hairstylists, dedicated to getting the girls glam. They have a huge following of their own: each pro has at least 100K followers on Instagram, proving that people are simply intrigued with the Kardashian/Jenner makeup process. So what could we do to show people how to get their exact look? A tutorial was a must, but instead of DIYing it, we decided to go straight to the source: recruit a member of the Pretty Committee for a full-on transformation. We were lucky enough to book Etienne Ortega, celebrity hair and makeup artist, for the shoot. Etienne has a bevy of celebrity clients, like Hilary Duff, Becky G, and Kelly Rowland, and works on Kim, Khloé, Kendall, and Kylie, meaning he has all of the insider details needed to make the transformation as realistic as possible. (We couldn't confirm if he's gotten his hands on Kourtney.) As the model for the transformation, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't thrilled for this shoot. I really love their makeup look, and I'm a fan of Etienne's in general, so getting the glam treatment and learning his tricks was exciting to me. I could barely sleep the night before - I felt like a kid on Christmas Eve! The process It is a lot of makeup, but not applied to the places you'd think there would be a lot. He doesn't wet the Beauty Blender sponge when he applies the foundation, so even though he buffs the makeup out beautifully, there's more coverage there than when you wet the sponge and blend it out. And one thing to note: no foundation was put near my eye area. Instead, it was covered when he went in for the highlight. The eyes were relatively simple, which is surprising given how intricate the look seems. Instead of loading up on a ton of coats of mascara, he leaves the drama to individual lashes. The bronze smokey eye - the signature Kardashian look we were going for - took the least amount of time to apply. As for the lips, I now understand how lip liner does make a huge difference in the shape and size of your mouth. (Regardless of if you have temporary fillers or not.) Etienne contoured outside of my lips to make them appear larger and then filled in with a beige shade of lipstick to give the appearance of a plumper pout. Etienne said all the girls wear hair extensions to help them achieve a desired look at events and red carpets, and I was mesmerized by his application. My hair is naturally a short bob, and he added 20'' Bellami Hair Extensions (yes, the ones by Kylie!) to my hair. He blended them seamlessly, even though they weren't a perfect match for my hair color. Overall, Etienne said the process takes around 2-2 1/2 hours for full hair and makeup for each sister, except Kourtney, who doesn't like to sit in the chair that long. He did want to stress that when they aren't having to work, they keep it makeup free. "These are beautiful girls to begin with, and when they aren't working, they don't wear makeup. But they're working almost every day!" said Etienne.
