12 Ways to Contour Your Body at Home With Self-Tanner

We're privy to a fake tan here at POPSUGAR - in fact, I used to be a professional airbrush tanner. (Trust me, I have stories.) While many think of self-tanning products as either a) just a way to get dark quick or b) a complete mess, there are a few tips that you can implement that will make your tanning fears disappear and will also help sculpt your body, too. First, start with a base tan. I recommend using a foam or mousse, like St. Tropez, which is relatively difficult to screw up. Apply it in circular motions on clean, dry skin. And make sure it has a cosmetic bronzer, so you can see where you're applying it! Then, start accentuating the rest of your body with an aerosol or spray self-tanner. My favorite is Infinity Sun's Glow on the Go, because it's alcohol free and has an olive tone to it, so you won't turn orange. To learn sculpting techniques and other useful tips, like how to fix tan lines and get rid of palm stains, check out our latest Beauty Junkie video. On Kirbie: Urban Outfitters dress
