Afghanistan said on Sunday the intelligence unit of a foreign country and the Lashkar-e-Taiba militant group based in Pakistan were involved in the failed assassination attempt on presidential candidate Abdullah Abdullah. Front-runner Abdullah escaped an assassination attempt on Friday when two bombs blew up outside a hotel where he had just staged a rally, killing 12 people and wounding 40.
