I use home-made canned tomatoes with basil (2 leaves per quart jar); I don't use the tomatoes w/basil for the Marinara sauce. Excellent marinara sauce; and he used canned Roma tomatoes. Romas are the best for sauces.

He used can tomatoes which are peeled. If you are using fresh, dunk tomato in boiling water for 1 min. then place in ice water. The skin pulls right off with your fingers. Then you can squeeze the seeds out.

He said he likes his bread slightly burnt. Try paying attention before comenting.

Also if it was not crispy, it would get too soggy for the sauce - the semi toasted bread such an American thing.

I have a passion for cooking & enjoy's all of his recipes that i've tried.Burnt bread is good especially if you have upset stomache. That is what my grand mother use to feed me along with home made chicken soup, dunk the bread in the soup.

Great sauce!!!!!! I sauteed some onions and mushrooms with it that I had on hand. I hit it with a splash of cream since I was serving it with Fabio's homemade ravioli also! Awesome! I am licking the plate. I had my doubts on this because I am a meat sauce lover but boy was I wrong. Thank you

I made this sauce last night with his meatballs from the other episode and my wife said she will never buy another sauce from a jar again! Both recipes are outstanding!!!
      • crystal 6 months ago
Yes I made it last night and fell in love with my own spaghetti. I have to find that meatball recipe you’re speaking of.

why would you buy a sauce in the first place? Good sauce is one of the easiest things to make, because of its simplicity. Please do not learn from this dolt, he is awful.
      • Tina 4 months ago
Please don't listen to Marie the dolt as she know not what she speaks. Love Fabio and he breaks down recipes to its simplicity.
