As of right now, there is only one American television star named Poehler: Amy. But that all changes tonight when her younger brother Greg Poehler's new show, Welcome to Sweden premieres on NBC. The semi-autobiographical show stars Poehler (the younger) as an American man who moves to Sweden for love. The show was already a hit in Sweden and this summer it's coming to American audiences. Greg not only stars in the show, but wrote and produced it as well
An astonishingly tragic year for air travel in Southeast Asia turned worse Sunday when an AirAsia plane carrying 162 people disappeared over stormy Indonesian waters, with no word on its fate despite several hours of searching by air and sea. AirAsia Flight 8501 vanished in airspace possibly thick with dense storm clouds, strong winds and lightning on its way from Surabaya, Indonesia, to Singapore. Searchers had to fight against heavy rain. The Malaysia-based carrier's loss comes on top of the still-unexplained disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 in March and the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 in July over Ukraine. At the Surabaya airport, shocked family members pored over the plane's manifest, crying and embracing when they learned the news. Nearly all the passengers and crew are Indonesians, who are frequent visitors to Singapore, particularly on holidays.
Scott Walker on Wednesday slammed the “media double standard” that has landed him in hot water for refusing to answer what he considers politically charged questions. In an op-ed for USA Today, the Republican presidential hopeful writes that he has experienced a trend of “Republicans [being] covered differently than Democrats, asked to weigh in on issues the Democrats don’t face.” The Wisconsin governor has drawn fire recently for refusing to answer questions about his beliefs on evolution.
Now eBay bidders can get a crack at Rob Ford. Toronto’s former mayor, who withdrew from his reelection race last September after being embroiled in a crack cocaine scandal, is selling some of his memorabilia online — including the National Football League tie that he wore when he famously admitted to taking the drug. As of Thursday afternoon, bidding had gone up to 4 thousand dollars... doubling the morning's highest bid in just five hours.
Not only do Chris Pratt and Anna Faris bring the fun to the red carpet, but they're also hilarious (and supersweet) on social media. Chris and Anna regularly take to Twitter and Instagram to share adorable snaps of each other and their cute son, Jack. On Saturday, Anna really upped the "aw" factor with a photo of Chris and Jack sharing a sweet moment at home, and the next day, Chris shared a selfie as the couple made their way to the Oscars. Their cute red carpet moments are just some of the reasons why Chris Pratt is so lovable!
Comedian Bill Cosby has issued a new statement as women continue to add their names to the list of sexual abuse and inappropriate behavior accusers speaking out about him, insisting the scandal will not bring his ongoing stand-up tour to a premature end. As the comic’s lawyers reportedly prepare to file dismissal papers to end three defamation cases against Cosby from women who were called liars when they came forward with their decades-old accusations, the actor/comic, who has never been charged of any crime in relation to the claims, has reached out to his supporters. In a new statement, the 77 year old writes, “Dear Fans: For 53 years you have given me your love, support, respect and trust. Thank you! I can’t wait to see your smiling faces and warm your hearts with a wonderful gift – LAUGHTER. I’m ready!” Cosby also thanked fans in Louisiana and staff at the Heymann Performing Arts Center in Lafayette, Louisiana, for refusing to postpone his Friday night show, amid a series of gig cancellations linked to his sexual abuse scandal. He added, "Hey, Hey, Hey – I’m far from finished.”
