I was border line obese last year weighing 50 lbs over my normal weight, I am now 6' weighing in at 159lbs. "Don't Eat" "Put the fork down" was the only way I was able to lose weight. Once you realize you have a weight problem and ready to do something about it "Don't Eat" "Put the fork down" comes pretty easy, you get used to not eating as much and only eating until you fill full. Believe it or not, but after time you won't get the hunger pains unless you go a couple days without eating

It helps to have both hands empty. Just putting your fork down WHILE YOU CHEW helps you chew thoroughly, and actually TASTE your food. You feel yourself getting full WHILE ITS HAPPENING, rather than feeling like you're going to bust 15 minutes after you get up from your first big [emptied] plate.
Exercising every day helps prevent you from eating when you're bored...You can still get bored, and maybe BE BORED all evening, but you'll go to the fridge and KNOW that you have no need or desire to eat, no matter what normally-tantalizing items may be in there. It's amazing, and kind of a bummer if you have no hobby-items to play with, or books to read.

All of you people making smarrtass comments such as "Dont Eat" "Put the fork down" dont realize just how difficult it really is for obese people to do so. Its all in the science of the brain and how is percieves food, so why dont you all just shut your mouths,
      • Briar-Rose 4 months ago
Jazz, food addiction is not equal to obesity. Obesity happens to people for any of a number of reasons. Not all obese people are food addicts, which is what I expect you currently believe. You might try the out-of-sight-out-of-mind technique. Just a suggestion, in case you haven't tried it yet.

You ought to feel lucky...but as age creeps up on you, you will see its not so easy :-)
      • Briar-Rose 4 months ago
Good for freakin' you, Landy. (Nice job on the NFL star wannabe-thing. As if that wasn't obvious...) My brother lost most of his fat cells when he was a baby, and yet, he was eventually able to pack on some pounds. There's nothing wrong with him; he's a better person than you -- that's for certain.
