Ukraine's President Poroshenko Cancels Turkey Trip Over Donetsk Tensions

Ukraine’s president Petro Poroshenko cancelled his visit to Turkey on August 28 saying Russia had orchestrated a military invasion of Ukraine. The president called an urgent meeting of the country’s security and defence council.

“I have made a decision to cancel my working visit to the Republic of Turkey due to sharp aggravation of the situation in Donetsk region, particularly in Amvrosiivka and Starobeshevo, as Russian troops were actually brought into Ukraine,” Poroshenko said.
