Thousands Rally in Stockholm Against Neo-Nazi Protest

A crowd of thousands descended upon central Stockholm on August 30, to stage a counter-protest against a demonstration by the far-right Party of the Swedes, in Gustav Adolf Square. Anti-fascist protesters clashed with neo-Nazis, with some masked demonstrators throwing fireworks and smokebombs. Some 15 people were reportedly arrested by police.

The chaos follows last weekend’s neo-nazi demonstration in Malmö, against a public address by the leader of the Party of the Swedes, that descended into heavy clashes between far-right protesters, anti-fascist protesters and police, with several injured and multiple arrests.
