Modi Launches Largest Indian-Built Warship

India launched its largest indigenously-built warship, the INS Kolkata, on August 16. Prime Minister Narendra Modi commissioned the ship at a ceremony at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai. Modi reportedly described the ship as proof of India’s intellectual capabilities. The Hindustan Times reports that the ship is intended to enhance India’s maritime capabilities against “enemy submarines, surface warships, anti-ship missiles and fighter aircraft.” Credit: YouTube/Narendra Modi
