Missouri Teenager Killed in Police Shooting

Members of a Missouri community took to the streets of Ferguson on August 10 to demand answers following the shooting dead of an 18-year-old male by police on August 9. Witnesses told local television station KMOV that the youth, Michael Brown, was unarmed and had his hands in the air when he was shot multiple times.

In a press conference on August 10, St Louis Country Police Chief Jon Belmar said a police officer had attempted to exit his vehicle when Brown pushed the officer back into the car. An altercation ensued and several shots were fired, he said. Credit: Instagram/Johnetta Elzie
