Journalist Films Aftermath of Israeli Strikes on His Neighbourhood in Gaza

A local journalist from Gaza filmed what’s left of his neighbourhood and home on August 1, following consistent shelling by Israel. Zouheir S. Al-Najjar has lived in Khuzaa in the Gaza Strip for 17 years, but on his return said “I really cannot recognize where I am now”. His video shows much devastation, with local residents returning to inspect their homes, only to find most of them in ruins.

The shelling of Gaza has been underway for almost a month, causing the deaths of over 1,300 Palestinians, many of them children. A fragile ceasefire declared by both sides for August 1 fell apart just hours later, with both sides blaming each other for the resurrection of violence. Credit: Facebook/Zouheir S. Al-Najjar
