Police clashed with thousands of supporters of opposition leader Imran Khan and the cleric Tahrul Qadri in Islamabad on Saturday evening, August 30, firing tear gas and rubber bullets as protesters marched on the residence of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Pakistan’s Dawn newspaper reported over 200 people were injured as they stormed the parliament building.
