    Healthy Alternatives for Cravings

Host Judy Greer's health coach, Carey Peters (http://loseweightlikeacelebrity.com/), shows her some healthy alternatives for when diet-sabotaging sugar and salt cravings attack. Luckily for Judy, there's even something for her potato chip addiction.

If I was Judy Greer, I might think about getting a restraining order against you.

When I get cravings I have an apple or grapes if I want sweet. If I want salty I get some veggies like peppers, broccoli, cauliflower and put a little salt and pepper on them. I think I'll try the kale chips sometime

Try a little nutritional yeast and sesame tahini rubbed into them before baking, too. YUM!

Frozen grapes are an amazing treat! And I've been doing Pickles for salty cravings for a few years now. I suggest it to ALL my dieting friends!

Maggie hit the nail on the head. I cut out bread, pasta and cereal and my sugar cravings stopped. Also, if you have a sugar addiction, you're gonna suck down that whole bag of "little chocolates" in one day.

For salt cravings I make popcorn on the stove with EVOO and I put the sea salt on top of the unpopped corn so everything gets covered while it's popping, so you use less. Popcorn is a whole grain with very few calories but lots of fiber, and antioxidants. It is also very filling.

popcorn filling? Only if you use it for packing material!

What is EVOO? It sounds like an African disease.

Thank you for your advice. It's good to hear, even if I have heard it before. Great reminders. :)

I find eating citrus fruit alleviates my sugar cravings. I eat an orange, normally, or apples DO work. Sorry if you're allergic. That sucks! I imagine those cravings for salt and sugar are a challenge for you. Best of luck :) Sometimes, lowfat yogurt works, too!

100% guaranteed weight loss..2 easy steps..1. eat less.2. move more.

i agree. i tried all the easy stuff: body shapers designed to melt fat, extremely low calorie diets, meal replacement shakes, fat burner pills. they all came with complications. ironically, the easier of the four was to change the foods i ate and to work-out regularly. i lost the weight more slowly, but i'm healthier. the weight also did not come back.

mostly true. I'm studying nutrition... and weight loss has much to do with hormones as well. Just youtube 'Dr. Jonny Bowden' for more information on it. But yes, diet and exercise does greatly effect weight. But it's not the whole equation to weight loss.

Did someone happen to mention self discipline? This is more important that any other suggestion.

is this an SNL skit? they talk and have a constant undertone that this whole conversation is an inside joke, like the way they look at the camera and answer eachothers questions?....

This is the truth- the more leafy greens you eat , the less sugar craving you have. Great suggestions( that I have been doing already)- they work!

Try brussel sprout chips! Slice brussel sprouts into 4 or more thin slices per sprout. Toss in olive oil. (Don't discard the loose leaves.) Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Spread on a cookie sheet. Bake at 380 degrees until browned or blackened. Turning once. Between 20 and 35 or 40 minutes. Add more salt to taste. Yum!
