Los Angeles Finale: Get Plugged In!

In this final episode of the online competition series “Plugged In,” actor, radio personality, and host of “The Yo Show on Yahoo!,” Michael Yo takes viewers to Los Angeles, where he puts our 20 finalists through their final challenges. These 10 teams won the celebrity challenges in their hometowns are competing to win the grand prize, their choice of an all-new Ford Focus Electric or C-MAX Energi.

The first challenge takes contestants to Will Rogers State Beach, where half of the ten final teams will get eliminated. Teams comb through a pile of 250 beach balls in an effort to find four “golden butterflies.” The teams who find these butterflies will get to move on to the next set of challenges. Once the four butterflies are found, the remaining teams have one last chance to move onto the next round. Using metal detectors, shovels, and pails, they must discover the fifth and final golden butterfly buried along the beach.

For the second challenge, Michael sends the remaining five teams on a scavenger hunt around Los Angeles, where each clue represents a favorite location of one of our celebrity hosts. The contestants must try to reach as many celebrity locations as possible during the allotted time, taking a picture at each and uploading their photo to Flickr at Flickr at http://www.flickr.com/groups/fordpluggedin/.

The first star map challenge location, Father’s Office, is where J.R. Martinez loves to grab their signature burger. The next stop at the corner of Pacific and Windward takes our contestants to David Arquette’s old neighborhood near Venice Beach where they need to snap a photo. Teams then move to Sprinkles, Bill Rancic’s favorite cupcake destination. Bill once spent a day at Hope Children’s hospital handing out Sprinkles to the children whose faces lit up at sight of their enormous cupcakes. Teams take a picture there eating a free sample at Sprinkles’ “cupcake ATM”.

The contestants then head back to Will Rogers State Beach for the final event. Teams have to physically catch paper butterflies to earn each their final butterfly points. Each member gets placed inside of the butterfly booth and tries to capture as many butterflies as they can in ten seconds. The team with the most points wins the Plugged In competition and takes home the final grand prize: their choice of either a brand new Focus Electric or a C-MAX Energi, the all-new plug-in hybrid from Ford.
