Coffee prevents heart disease. I have never heard of caffeine affecting your blood sugar. Sugar and carbs affect your blood sugar.

I love coffee. I've been drinking 8-12 cups of black coffee daily for the last 40 or so years - and I'm perfectly fine. The stats at my annual physical are right where they should be (without medication), so it's certainly not hurting me in any way. It never keeps me awake, although there are times I wish it would.

Don't worry about caffeine. Certainly don't need it to wake up each morning. Don't touch coffee or soft drinks. Drink ice water at work and milk at home.

It's hard to understand the benefits of caffeine. I'm mean you get these "spike and crash" effects of it. So you're up for awhile then you just have no energy.
