    Buffalo Hot Wing Festival

    Mon, Oct 3, 2011 5:00 AM EDT - Blue Ribbon Hunter 4:20 | 117,927 views

They're called Buffalo Wings because that's where they were invented, and this spicy snack of the football season is a big crowd pleaser as 20,000 fans showed up for this festival to crown the best hot wing recipe in America.

I love my wings crazy hot and a little sweet. I won't ever try to do a ghost chili wing challenge again though, those things were so hot my stomach hurt for days. At least I got a t-shirt out of it though :P

We use to alway go to the Original Anchor Bar (where hot wings originated) for wings after sporting and concert events. They originated as hor'devers to atract business. They are larger and tastier then average wings.

While I'm sure those exotic wing sauces are tasty, I'm kind of a traditionalist when it comes to my hot wings. My wing sauce is just melted butter and a good hot pepper sauce - not plain old Tabasco, but a tangy pepper sauce like Frank's or the like to taste. My wings get dusted with seasoned flour and deep-fried golden and crispy. I hate hot wings with a heavy batter coating.

Having eaten wings across the country for over 25 years, I've tried the "Original" wing at the Anchor Bar and was greatly disappointed. There is a place in Georgia called Buffalos that are among the best I've tasted.

Not to many native Buffalonians go to the Anchor bar. over hyped,to expensive, and just ok. Most of their trade is tourists like you. There is probably over a hundred places better than them. Each neighborhood has a favorite.
