Insider's Guide to Washington, D.C.: Ali Wentworth Gets Plugged In!

In this episode of the weekly online competition series “Plugged In,” actress and host of The Daily Shot Ali Wentworth takes viewers to Washington, D.C., where she grew up and then lived with her husband, Good Morning America Anchor George Stephanopoulos. Ali puts six contestants to the test with challenges of stamina, problem solving and driving skill, all built around her favorite D.C. locations and activities. The contestants, working in teams of two and using the all-new 2012 Ford Focus Electric, compete to earn “butterfly” points, with the ultimate goal of representing Washington, D.C. in the finale and competing with winners in nine other cities for a chance to win the Focus Electric.
The first challenge takes the contestants to Busboys and Poets , where the teams face off in a poetry slam. Ali and her husband George Stephanopoulos once acted in a play together at this theater.
For the second challenge, Wentworth sends the participants on a scavenger hunt to visit some of her most beloved locations in the D.C. area. The contestants must try to reach as many locations as possible during the allotted time, taking a picture in each location and uploading their photo to Flickr at http://www.flickr.com/groups/fordpluggedin/.
One stop is 2 Amys, whose pizza makers are members of the D.O.C. pizza making federation and where Ali used to come with her kids. Here, contestants must snap a picture with Ali’s favorite Neapolitan pizza in the city. Ali’s husband George used to surprise her with beautiful flowers from the Georgetown florist Ultra Violet Flowers , another location on the scavenger hunt. Contestants can also venture to the DuPont Circle bookstore and Café Kramerbooks , which has been around since the 1970’s. Over on Wisconsin Ave, contestants also have the option to head to Sassanova. One of Ali’s good friends owns this wonderland of shoes in Georgetown, where contestants will need to snap a picture with the sign in order to earn butterflies.
For the final challenge, the contestants head to D.C.’s first “cupcakery,” Georgetown Cupckaes. Founded by Katherine Kallinis and Sophie LaMontagne, these sisters traded their careers in fashion and private equity to pursue their passion for artful cupcakes. Our contestants compete in Greek themed cupcake eating competition, and the winner will move on to the finale for their chance to win a brand new Ford Focus.
